Mount Moriah Lodge is once again sponsoring a reading contest for the students at Jefferson! Two 7" Kindle Fires are up for grabs in each grade level (for a total of six awards school wide). They are also including cases for the Kindles, screen protectors, and $20 gift cards so that the winner can purchase some downloadable reading materials!
For every 100 pages read, the student may come to the library to fill out an entry for the drawing to be held in mid-May.

7th Grade Science Classes Take Field Trip!

This week the JMS 7th grade science students visited Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge on the outskirts of Nampa to enjoy some hands on experience with refuge biology learn about stewardship of wildlife habitats. In addition, the students will use the information that they gathered in their upcoming science fair projects. It was a fun, but educational enhancement to the science curriculum at JMS!

Tennis vs. Middleton Results

Yesterday proved to be a tough day on the tennis courts for the Jefferson Cougars. Overall, the Vikings came out ahead of the Cougars in wins. However, in A team action, the highlight of the day was watching Leslie Ruiz and Emilee Goettig in the last match in the Girls 2nd
Doubles. The duo "showed a lot of grit" according to Coach Will Julian on their way to a 7-5 tiebreaker victory.
The B team also struggled and lost to Middleton 5-12-7.
The Cougars will take on Kuna today. The A team will host at Jefferson while the B team will play at Kuna. Matches will begin at 4:00 p.m.

"A" Team Tennis Results vs Lone Star

Our "A" tennis team battled Lone Star yesterday but eventually lost 3 to 9. Leading the way for the Cougars was Mason Martin. In his introductory match in singles competition, he beat Lone Star's 1st Boys Singles 6 to 4. Other highlights for the day came from Angel Montanez, as he won the 3rd Boys Singles 7 to 5.
Additionally, our 2nd Mixed Doubles team, River Rowan & Daisy Estrada, had a great day as they were able to pull off a win in a 7 to 4 tie breaker.

Tennis Sweeps East Valley!

Our A Tennis Team easily beat East Valley yesterday 9 to 3. Our winners included Jaime Hernandez in Boys 2nd Singles 6 to 4, Angel Montanez in Boys 3rd Singles 6 to 4, Duplica Lopett in Girls 2nd Singles 6 to 1, Ramie Hilton in Girls 3rd Singles 6 to 2, Joseph Burke & Harrison Naillon in Boys 2nd Doubles 6 to 2, Sadie Oesch & Roz Hilton in Girls 1st Doubles 6 to 0. Leslie Ruiz & Emilee Goettig in Girls 2nd Doubles 6 to 0, In Mixed Doubles Hayden Phillips & Shyla Bailey won a Tiebreaker 7 to 4 and 2nd Mixed Doubles River Rowen & Daisey Estrada won 7 to 5.
Our B team also brought home a win with a 9-4-5 over East Valley.

Interested in Playing High School Football Next Year?

There will be a 2017 Football Parent Meeting April 12th:
6:00 p.m. for returning players
7:00 p.m. for transfers, new participants, and incoming freshmen. Meetings will be held in the CHS lecture hall (upstairs).
The meeting administrators will discuss the CHS program, summer schedules, and helmet leasing program.
Please plan to attend if you are interested in playing high school football next fall.
