CEA Friend of Education Award to Mrs. Caldon

Mrs. Caldon, our amazing office manager at Jefferson Middle School recently received a Friend of Education Award by the CEA. The award was presented by CEA representative KC Longoria at the school wide final awards assembly on Monday. Caldon is a favorite with the staff of JMS. In addition to managing the office, keeping the teacher's in supplies, and fundraising for our kids, she works especially hard to make the staff at JMS feel appreciated with creative gifts and treats. She is one of the key people that make JMS truly a special place to work. On behalf of your 'Cougar Family', Congratulations, Mrs. Caldon for this well deserved award!

Mr. Rehder Heading to Prairie High School

It has been an emotional month for staff and students at Jefferson Middle School since the announcement that Vice Principal Jon Rehder has resigned to take over the Principal reigns at his alma mater, Prairie High School, in northern Idaho.
Rehder has been the Vice Principal at JMS for the past three years and has formed many great working relationships with the staff and students during that time. While we wish him only the best, we will miss his solid leadership, ever present sense of humor, and signature smile. Mr. Rehder has left a lasting impression on the Cougar Family and will be tremendously missed.

Reading for Kindles Winner!

For the second year, Mount Moriah Lodge in Caldwell has sponsored a reading contest for JMS students. The contest kicked off just prior to Spring Break and challenged students to put in time reading. For every 100 pages read, a student received an entry into the drawing. This year the contest saw a multitude of entries as reading increased throughout the student body. Six Kindles, complete with screen protectors, covers, and a $20 gift card were presented to two students per grade at the end of the year assembly. Obed Tovar, Maritza Luna, Alex Callister, Junnie Morales Alvarez, Jonathan Phillips, and Daisy Estrada each had their name drawn and received their award. A special shout out to the Mount Moriah Lodge for sponsoring the contest, and to lodge members Hess, Cagle, and Burger for presenting the awards.
