Puma Intelligencia Steals the Show!
The JMS Academic team competed in their first quiz bowl of the season last night. It was an epic battle of the brains that played out at Vallivue Middle school. In the current event round JMS was staggered by a body blow that sent them reeling, However, they managed to stay on their feet limping to their corner having answered four out of ten correct, tied for 5th place. In round two, the topic round, Jefferson bounced back and fought their way to the middle of the pack. Sara Nunez, Elizabeth Jones, Lexie Payton, and Clover Atkinson answered their topic questions correctly, keeping the leaders within sight. JMS was tied for fourth going into the final round. Then in a truly impressive display of grit and determination Jms exploded off the ropes answering a flurry of speed round questions. Fighting all the way to end and leaving coach Saunders weary, tired, and very proud. JMS shot all the way up from being tied for 4th to just 10 points away from winning. We placed second....but we did in style.
The MVB ( most valuable brain) goes to Lilia Harris. She answered 4 speed round questions and always has a smile and positive attitude. Lilia will be team captain for the next competition. Coach Saunders is truly impressed with his teams hard work and knows they will continue to keep their goal in sight.
