The 7th grade volleyball A team got an away win last night vs West! In the first set, Esmeralda Palomares had a couple of diving saves, while Eva Flores served tough and passed well. Maria Gutierrez stepped up and into the role of setter, playing well and allowing some pass, set, hit rallies. In set 2, Emily Maderd began the set serving and served 11 in a row! The girls never looked back, taking that set confidently and swiftly. Hallie Staples served well at the end of the match, acing point 24. The girls play their final match of the week at home (Syringa gym), tonight against Mtn Home.
Yesterday the 7th grade B team played against the girls from Nampa West. The B team continued in their winning ways by defeating the girls from West in 2 games. The first game was very interesting - Caldwell started out slow and got into trouble, down by 13 points. The Cougars showed no quit, though and battled back. Treisa Ford went back to serve and brought us back so we were tied with West at 23 all. There were some amazing plays made by the Cougars and we ended up winning 27-25!! it was amazing. The second game was much less dramatic, but still showcased how well the girls are playing and improving. Mackenzie Gutierrez and Hadley Lively served and played well. We are home tonight against Mt. Home. If you haven't been to a match yet - come out and see what you've been missing!
