Caldwell Sweeps Vallivue in Football Action!

Congratulations to the entire 8th grade Football team for their thrilling 8-6 victory over Vallivue last night in their conference and home opener. Anthony Ibarra scored the Cougars touchdown on a one yard plunge to even the score at 6-6 late in the 3rd quarter and Ignacio Gaona added the two-point conversion kick for the deciding points. After giving up a score following an early Cougar fumble the Cougar defense led by Michael Pickens, who had a strip sack, Gabe Hernandez, Vinny Valverde and a game saving tackle late in the fourth quarter by Jose Campos, shut down the Falcon attack.
Valverde, Campos, Omar Carrillo, Alex Saucedo and Josh Martinez all had nice runs for the Cougars.
The 7th grade team also beat the Falcons to start the season 1-0. No additional details are available.
