Yesterday afternoon your Caldwell Cougar 8th grade B team played in their home opener against a tough team from Middleton. If you missed it, you missed an exciting afternoon! The Cougars started off slow in the first game, but won the second game 26-24. It was intense! The third game was all about the Cougars, with Caldwell winning it 15-6. All of the girls served well, with very few missed serves. Outstanding serving by Fatima Zavala and Iris Guajardo led the way. Chavi Dionna dominated the middle. The hustle and heart of this team will make them successful this season. Come on out and watch us play in our next home game on September 11th against TVCS.
Our 8th volleyball season began last night with a game against Middleton. The B team came back from a first game loss to win the overall match in three games.
Both the A and B teams made some incredible plays and were able to work through their first game jitters. Keep tuned for what is to come from our 8th grade C teams!
Yesterday afternoon the 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Nampa South to play the Hawks. In the B game the Cougars played well-- almost well enough. We lost it 24-26. The Cougars regrouped and won the second game 25-19 which took us to the third game where it was a close game with the cougs losing the game 12-15. The girls served well, passed well and hustled after every shot. Julia Melgoza had an amazing spike and Iris Guajardo served for a total of 11 points!!
The eighth grade C Lady Cougars took the court yesterday against the Vallivue Falcons. In the first game Kennedy Cordell hit the court like a true cougar. Kennedy saved a point with a miraculous pass to the other side. She also hit an amazing spike ball to help take the cougars to their first win of 25-21.
In the second game the Lady Cougars were ready to pounce on the Falcons. Cadance Patterson had some amazing serves. Adriana Mayorga had a great save in the game and Alejandra Mayorga hit several balls into the Falcons dead zone. Cathrine Strauch served us to an amazing win of 28-26. Good job ladies. Coach Myer
The 8th grade A team lost yesterday against Vallivue. We did an excellent job to fight our way back into the game despite being down at the beginning thanks to some great net play by Anthania Webb, Jada Scott, and Skylar Erickson.
Last night in the 8th grade B game, it was like a tale of two teams! In the first game Caldwell didn't serve well and lost the game 12-25!! The second game was all Cougars all day with Shyanne Good starting us off with eight points. The girls played tough and played together to win that game 25-18. Great net play by Noelia and Julia led the way to that victory. Fatima Zamora passed well and Iris Guajardo put up some great sets. We play at home on Monday so come out and cheer us on!!
The 8th grade volleyball teams made a clean sweep of TVCS yesterday afternoon in Syringa's home gym. It was great! It started with the B game where your Caldwell Cougars won the match in two games, 25-10 and 25-7. We served really well and TVCS had a hard time returning them. Addie Staples served for 10 points with several aces and Iris Guajardo had 7 points and several aces. These girls played great and enjoyed the big win.
With the A team, game one ended with a score of 25-14 and game two ended with a score of 25-12. The girls were able to find some energy and pull ahead early thanks to our servers. We had really great plays every time we were able to get the ball to our setters Mya Pena and Hailee Wolf. Great win team!!
The 7th grade B team had no trouble defeating TVCS with a 25-7 and 25-12 victory! The ladies cougars continue to work together as a team and encourage one another to do their best.
The 7th grade A team picked up another win last night against TVCS. Victoria Burke was clutch from the serving position and the entire team demonstrated fantastic communication in securing the win.
